Welcome to the Knights of Columbus and more specifically the James D Hart Council! Please explore our website to find out who we are and how we fit into the St Mary family. Thank you for your interest in our organization!
On March 29, 1882, while an assistant pastor at Saint Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, Fr McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus with a small group of parishioners. McGivney died from pneumonia on the eve of the Assumption in 1890, when he was only thirty-eight years old. The order now has over 1.8 million member families and fifteen thousand councils. During the 2008-2009 fraternal year, $150 million and 70 million man-hours were donated to charity by the order.
To find out more information about the Venerable Michael J McGivney, our founding priest, please visit www.fathermcgivney.org.
If you are interested in joining our ranks, please see a Knight before or after Mass or at many Parish events! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
